Guest Review by Julie: Hungry as a Wolf by Alma Black

Series:     Shifter Date #2
Pub. Date:Dec 7, 2016
Publisher:Self-Pub
Length:105 pages

Luke has been hot for Jasmine, his best friend Theo's little sister, for a long time. In theory, he feels it's deeper than a physical attraction. Unfortunately, he can't really test that theory because of the unspoken 'best friend code'-and the "Do not touch little sister" message is getting harder and harder to ignore each day. However, when Luke learns Jasmine is just as attracted to him..well, with the alpha lion away this wolf shifter is coming out to play!

I love a good friends to lover's trope and Black did not disappoint! Compared to Max and Alexis (from MUST LOVE LIONS), I thought Luke and Jasmine were much more passionate together giving the story a..vibrancy, if you will, that really added to the storyline. Luke is an intense character; very dominant and self assured mostly.. then we get these small windows of vulnerability that makes you want to hug him yourself! Jasmine is perfect for him-confident, intelligent, and doesn't hesitate to laugh at herself as she talks herself into a relationship with Luke. I think Black did a great job ramping up the emotional and sexual tension between these two! The time spent building an actual relationship between Luke and Jasmine grounded their romance, (making it much more believable to me) as opposed to having them jump in bed right away with case of insta-love.

Overall, I enjoyed the book! Strong characters, small thread of suspense, good action, and plenty of steamy chemistry captured and held my attention to see what would happen to Luke and Jasmine next! And the extra epilogue..I love my HEA's, but HFN works just as well too! My only complaint, does Theo have a story somewhere I am missing, lol?!

SHIFTER DATE: HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF is book two in the Shifter Dating series. While it can be read as a stand alone, it's worth picking up the first book SHIFTER DATE: MUST LOVE LIONS to see why Luke was testing Max's dating app in the first place!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received at no cost from the author.

Julie is a transplanted military brat that now calls the Midwest home with her own romantic hero, daughter and two furbabies. While she toils the day away in a medical office, she would really rather be reading! Julie loves historical romance, steampunk, romantic suspense, military romance (duh!), paranormal and urban fantasy.  She loves a kickass take-charge heroine, lots of action, and the all-important HEA. Julie can get down with an alpha male, but she does not discount a nerdy hero with a sexy brain.

Julie and Bambi met at the RT Convention where they found themselves standing in many lines, sharing their similar reading interests, and fangirling over attending authors.
