I liked Cayenne. She's a quick learner, very open and honest with those around her, intelligent, and a strategic fighter. Having mixed DNA with an arachnid gives her very unusual abilities. My least favorite, and creepy, ability was crawling/hanging from the walls, but spinning silks with her hands turned out to be convenient and kind of cool!
What I didn't care for was Cayenne's blind obedience to Trap. I get that she was sheltered in a lab and treated as a specimen instead of a person. That doesn't mean she has to be a complete ninny when it comes to a guy! I really wanted to reach through the pages and shake some sense into her every time she gave into him!
As for Trap... he's got mad skills as a GhostWalker, he's intelligent, a control freak, and an extremely high sex drive. Seriously. High. Sex. Drive. I'm sayin' there's a lot of hanky panky going on because the guy has sex on the brain 24/7! Normally, I'd be okay with it. Unfortunately, his abrasiveness and arrogance when he spoke to Cayenne was aggravating-and demeaning-enough to make those scenes a big turn off for me. Instead, I found myself wishing Cayenne would stake him to a wall indefinitely or that one of the guys would beat some sense into his thick skull! The imbalance of Cayenne and Trap's relationship was explained at various points, however, it didn't negate his attitude and set a very different tone for the book.
The GhostWalker series has been a longtime favorite of mine. Spider Game had fantastic action and made for quite the addictive read! While it was fun seeing the old team members and catching up with Wyatt and his crazy family, obviously I was disappointed with the romance. Cayenne and Trap had a lot of potential together but fizzled out fairly quickly for me. Although this wasn't one of the better entries to the series, it was a still decent read.

While she toils the day away in a medical office, she would really rather be reading! Julie loves historical romance, steampunk, romantic suspense, military romance (duh!), paranormal and urban fantasy. She loves a kickass take-charge heroine, lots of action, and the all-important HEA. Julie can get down with an alpha male, but she does not discount a nerdy hero with a sexy brain.
