Quantum opened up with a bang and never slowed down! Mae is undercover trying to prove if Zander is human, or if he's been replaced by the Reidar, shape shifting aliens planning to take over the system. What follows is a fast-paced story with enough suspense and adrenaline that kept me glued until the end!
Mae isn't anyone definition of a damsel in distress. She extremely practical, intelligent, loyal, has a glib sense of humor, and doesn't take any crap-I would have said the last person Zander would fall for, but she's perfect for him. Given his fancy title, Zander should be an obnoxious jerk. Instead he's got a sarcastic, self-deprecating sense of self, a natural arrogance that cracked me up, and such a laid back, in control attitude..he's the guy everyone wants to have drinks and swap stories with. Mae and Zander's physical attraction literally jumps off the page from the start, yet their intimate connection is what really sucked me in. Their brains may have denied any trust, but theirs hearts were on warp speed, forming a bond neither would acknowledge until its too late.
Rian is making progress on the Reidar's heinous plan and finding unexpected allies along the way. And his pseudo-relationship with Ella is still running hot and cold, but there's no denying the physical side of things is still burning hot! I know I am looking forward to the moment the mighty captain is brought down by this petite priestess!

With echoes of the Star Trek and Firefly tv series, the Atrophy series has become a favorite of mine! Superb characters and a sensational plot kept me up late in the night, anxious to know what would happen next. Book two in the series, Zander and Mae's story was stuffed with suspense, intrigue, action, and romance of course! I highly recommend starting with Atrophy before reading Quantum so you don't miss out on a truly engrossing series!
