I would love it if these books were full-length novels. I am enjoying all of the characters... dark nobility and saucy heroines are my favorite historical character types. So I would love it if these stories had more character development and back story. It's hard to jam those aspects and building sexual tension into a novella-length story, you kinda got get to it fast and dirty like... and that is just what Sabrina York does here.

We met Edward Wyeth, the Duke of Moncrieff in Dark Fancy where he helped the Earl of Darlington with his recalcitrant fiancee. Edward (a/k/a the Dark Duke) has a debauched history full of orgies and wicked deeds, but now he finds himself jealous of James (Darlington) and his wife, Helena. Edward's life has also been turned topsy turvy when he agreed to take in his six orphaned cousins, including his cousin Violet's companion. As an author of naughty novels under the pen name Lord Hedon, Edward finds himself lacking inspiration.

Kaitlin McCallum, daughter of an earl, fled Scotland to avoid an unwanted marriage. Rather than suffer at the hands of the McCloud, she goes in hiding as Violet's companion. Residing in the Dark Duke's abode creates all new temptations for Kaitlin, and she doesn't resist too hard (or at all). Once her curiosity is peaked by Lord Hedon's books, Kaitlin becomes a wanton at the mercy of the duke's dark desires.

So this story was pretty much sex over substance as well... but it was enjoyable and entertaining. If you like a little Fifty Shades with your historical reading, you will enjoy this series. It offers up deliciously naughty heroes and curious heroines willing to be tutored in the ways of pleasure. They are quick and light reads, perfect for when you have a little time to kill... or maybe before bed if you need to get your motor running. ;P
