ARC Review: Snakes in the Garden by Victoria Roberts and C.A. Roberts

Pub. Date:July 26, 2016

Length:102 pages

This short novella from Victoria Roberts and her daughter is unique and captivating, and I hope to see more from this duo in the future.

Following in her father's footsteps, Annella Poley has become an assassin for the crown. Training and working with her "Uncle" George and his son, Simon, Annella is kicking butt and taking names. She was such a unique heroine, that you can't help but be fascinated with her.

Marcus Grant is your typical Highland Hero - large and in charge all the way. He is loyal to his laird, and both are intrigued by this beautiful red-haired lass who looks so much like Laird Grant's deceased daughter. When Laird Grant tasks Marcus with uncovering Annella's secret, he wastes no time getting to the bottom of the mysterious woman.

This is a short novella so I don't want to give too much away in my review. So I will say that there is a good amount of court intrigue and action and a smidge of romance. This was the perfect read for me to pass the time in the doctor's waiting room - I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't even realize that it took them an hour to call my name.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
