#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews launches a brand new Hidden Legacy series, in which one woman must place her trust in a seductive, dangerous man who sets off an even more dangerous desire…

Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.

Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.

Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

I was browsing for an audiobook through Overdrive and saw that my library had this one available, and because I love Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series, I thought I would give this one a try. And I am really glad I did. I listened to it all day - right up until 3:30am!

Nevada is a private investigator of the magical variety who is working to keep her family in a home. She mainly does small jobs like insurance fraud and cheating spouses - but then she gets forced into an impossible job that may end very badly for her. She is sent after Adam Pierce, a pyrotech who can melt stainless steel in less than a minute. Yikes. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Mad Rogan is also looking for Adam Pierce for a different reason. This sets them on a collision course and that first meeting does NOT go well.

I loved loved loved Connor "Mad" Rogan! He is a great broody misunderstood powerful and rich as sin hero. What's not to love? Though there was not really any romance in this book, there was lots of tension! And I hope that this is setting us up for a great love story in this series that will happen sooner, rather than later. I was a very disappointed with Nevada when it comes to the possibilities between her and Rogan. But other than that, I liked Nevada. I have a feeling she has only scratched the surface of her power and will be another Kate Daniels type character that we will all root for and love.

Overall, a great start to a series. One I will be reading as soon as the books come out.

About the Authors

Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Oregon with their two children, three dogs and a cat. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.
