ARC Review & Giveaway: The Angel Wore Fangs by Sandra Hill

Series:     Deadly Angels #7
Pub. Date:May 31, 2016
Publisher:Avon
Length:384 pages
Source:Edelweiss

The Angel Wore Fangs rounds out the seven deadly sins, one suffered by each of the seven Sigurdsson brothers that warranted their 700 year sentence to become vangels (vampire angels) in the war of good and evil. While I have not read all of the earlier books in the series, I followed along quite well and didn't feel like I was missing any world building or too much back story.

ARC Review: Torn by Cynthia Eden

Series:     LOST #4
Pub. Date:May 31, 2016
Publisher:Avon
Length:384 pages
Source:Edelweiss

Cynthia Eden and the LOST series have never disappointed me. I was almost hesitant to start this book because the last romantic suspense I read didn't do it for me. But after the first few pages of this story, I knew it was going to remind me why I love romantic suspense. Note to self: never doubt Cynthia Eden!

ARC Review: Deception Island by Brynn Kelly

Pub. Date:May 31, 2016
Publisher:Harlequin
Length:336 pages
Source:Edelweiss

Sadly this book didn't work out for me. But I may just be hitting a reading slump, so take my review with a grain of salt. I will lay out what worked and what didn't... and the things that didn't work for me might be what you like.  Goodness knows I am not the end-all be-all of reviewers, and there are many that loved this book on Goodreads.  I will commend Brynn Kelly on this debut novel at least, for I know it was no easy feat. While the execution didn't work for me, she has put together a great premise and I love the hero's background in the French Foreign Legion. I am also curious about the hero's friend and teammate from the FFL (Flynn I think his name was), and if he gets his own book, I will give Ms. Kelly another shot.

Stackin' the Shelves #35 and Weekly Recap

Welcome back bambinas!
This is Stackin' the Shelves, the weekly feature where I showcase all the books I have accepted for review, one-clicked, won or borrowed from the library. Not a whole lot is going on this week, The furbabies are having a better week.  They insist on waking me at 6:30 every morning.  So I decided to take us on a walk yesterday morning while it wasn't Hot as Hades out.

While the pups get excited to put their leash on and go out the door... they find the experience better in theory than practice. We didn't even make it a block before they were done. I had to coax and cheer them on for the last section of the block because they were about to drop.  This is Lucky's "OMG I'm Dying over here" face.

Maybe we will try half a block tonight after sundown... so that means just to the corner and back. Look out - here we come! So that is what's going on with me. And below is what's going on with the blog. Thanks for stopping by and please shoot me a comment below to let me know what you are up to or what's on your shelf!

Series Saturday Review: The Fairest of Them All by Cathy Maxwell

Series:     Marrying the Duke #2
Pub. Date:May 31, 2016
Publisher:Avon
Length:384 pages
Source:Edelweiss

I was a big fan of the prior two books in the Marrying the Duke series. I thought Jennifer and Fyclan's story in A Little Thing Called Love was uplifting and happy, and I had a great emotional connection to Ben in his and Elin's story in The Match of the Century.  While The Fairest of Them All was an okay read, it is not my favorite of the series.

Gah! This book!  Jeffe Kennedy has truly outdone herself with this story.  From the beautiful cover to the very last word, I was captivated by this fantastical tale. I predict it will be one of my favorite books of the year.

Throwback Thursday Audiobook Review: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Series:     Alice in Wonderland #1
Pub. Date:1865
Re-Release Date:Dec. 2015
Publisher:Dreamscape Media
Narrator:Tim Gerard Reynolds
Length:3 hrs 5 min

It's hard to believe that this book is over 150 years old, and is still providing entertainment to the masses today. With Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice Through the Looking Glass having just been released, it inspired me to read the original series to see how things are translating so many years later.

ARC Review: Demon Hunting with a Dixie Deb by Lexi George

Series:     Demon Hunting #4
Pub. Date:May 24, 2016
Publisher:Lyrical Press
Length:354 pages
Source:NetGalley

Lexi George's books make me happy. I was feeling grumpy today when I started Demon Hunting with a Dixie Deb, and it totally distracted me and put me in a better mood. Plus its always uplifting to know that I am not the only crazy attorney out there... Lexi being a lawyer as well lets me know that it's okay for me to be a little outrageous and yell things like "SON OF A BISCUIT!" and other creative southern swears around the office when I get a paper cut, or trip over my own feet, or have to deal with some difficult opposing counsel. Just goes to show that you can be smart AND silly... and that even the highly educated enjoy some good slapstick humor now and then.

Tuesday Teaser: The Honey Series by Kristen Ashley

Did you guys hear? My abso-favorite author has a new series coming out with St. Martin's Press!  I was so stoked to get this news from the publisher today!  I have been watching Kristen's updates on Facebook... but now we have dates!  This is the ultimate tease, knowing that the goodness is out there, but we have to wait almost a year for it! I am very interested to see how this series is going to turn out as its a little outside of my normal trope. But I always say, Queen Ashley could probably write the phone book and I would read it. So of course I clicked my pre-order button. Pre-Order your copies today!

Stackin' the Shelves #34 and Weekly Recap

Welcome back bambinas!
This is Stackin' the Shelves, the weekly feature where I showcase all the books I have accepted for review, one-clicked, won or borrowed from the library. Not a whole lot is going on this week, I have been going through the ups and downs of elderly dog health and care. Dopey was having the problems last week, and he improved to about 75% overall. But I tried to wean him off pain meds the last day or two, and he backtracked a bit.  So it looks like we will be continuing pain meds for a while. Lucky is maintaining her status quo at about 80%. Its at the point now where I have to start keeping a quality of life chart for them daily just to make sure I am not holding on to them when it would be better to let them go on to the Rainbow Bridge.

Audiobook Review: Dark Gold by Christine Feehan

Series:     Carpathians #3
Pub. Date:Dec. 31, 2013
Publisher:HarperAudio
Narrator:Marc Bachman
Length:13 hrs 4 min
Source:Hoopla

So I am kicking off my Read All The Books! Challenge by starting on my Christine Feehan backlog. I started the Carpathians series a while ago... but I got intimated by the number of books and the mindset that I would never get caught up! And now that I waited so long between reads, I am kinda thinking I should have started over at the beginning. I can't remember anything from the first two books. Hmmm... dilemma. Should I go back and re-read the first two?
